Gaja Pegan Nahtigal (From Gaja) is a holistic designer who focuses on the ecological potential of the diversity of urban nature through the practice of urban foraging. She has teamed up with Slovenian boutique gin producer Erik Sarkič (Gin Brin) to distil gin from local plants carefully picked in the park of Villa Bagatti Valsecchi.

Gaja Pegan Nahtigal (born 1996) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2023. During her studies in the Netherlands, she dedicated herself to social design, ecology and educating people about the importance of diverse urban nature, all of which are at the heart of her foraging practice. This was strongly influenced by her internship and subsequent collaboration with the Krater collective. She firmly believes that ecological change is inextricably linked to the well-being of all living beings. Rejecting academic theorising about the environment, she developed an embodied practice of foraging, not only for the consumption of wild food, but also as a reminder that humans are animals who are most fulfilled when embodied in the natural environment. Foraging thus becomes a method of practical education, terraforming and holistic health.

Through her brand “From Gaja”, she holds foraging workshops, designs herbal products and collaborates on culinary projects as a forager and “food designer”.
